Virus detection is performed by the amplification of the specific fragment of the viral genome via the PCR technique (polymerase chain reaction).

The amplification product is detected with the use of a new technological platform: CLART (Clinical Array Technology). The platform is based on low density micro-arrays placed at the bottom of the micro vial tube.

The advantages of the molecular method are:

High sensitivity: detection of 1 target molecule

High specificity: nature of nucleic acids

Quick Time: only a few hours

It detects pathogens even during the administration of antimicrobial treatment

It detects “difficult” microorgaisms (e.g. Influenza C, Parainfuenza 4a, Parainfluenza 4b, Rhinovirus, Echovirus, Metapneumovirus A, Metapneumovirus B, Bocavirus).

Clinical Arrays Technology also allows the detection of multiple infections, it is easy to implement and has objective result interpretation.

― Pneumoviruses & respiratory infections

Pneumoviruses affect all ages but mostly little children and older people.

Many viruses are seasonal and they are usually active during winter.
